Course Description

This course focuses on creating impressive cultural-based characters designs; student will learn character design creative techniques. Topics include shape variation of character anatomy, proportions, styles and appeal. Practical requirements will cover standards for creating character-model-sheets to deliver creative high-quality emotional characters. Students engaged in open-discussion and peer-review sessions to develop their conceptual thinking level.

Course Objectives

This course intending to:

1. Identify character dimensions as a visual methodology for development character.

2. Discuss character design forms to for the conceptual thinking process.

3. Examine the character design for visual storytelling and animation.

Learning outcomes

At the completion of the course, students will be able to:

1. Identify character dimensions as a visual methodology for development character.

2. Relate the variables of humanize things to develop character’s identity.

3. Develop Character’s Model-Sheet as a requirement for production.

1- Lecture: to explain the principles of character design methods.

2- Demonstration: stimulate design process to ignite the creativity of students.

3- Guided Study: Simulate design process for creating characters, step by step.

4- Mentoring: motivate peer review and work groups to monitor and orient student’s skills.
